Care Instructions and Washing Guide

So that you can enjoy your made-to-measure cushions, seat pads and covers for many years, you will find the right care instructions for each of the six Lekoni® fabrics here. All covers are removable and fitted with a zip – this means they can be cleaned without putting any strain on the foam core.

Before every cleaning: remove the cover and close the zip so that it cannot snag. The foam core is never washed and must not be soaked. Stains are best treated immediately – once they have dried in, they are considerably harder to remove.

Machine Washable at 30°C

Panama

The cover goes into the delicate cycle at 30°C. Use a mild detergent and no bleach. Because the wet rub fastness is rated 3–4, please wash Panama separately or with similar colours. Afterwards, air dry flat or hanging – not in the tumble dryer. Iron on a low setting if required; no dry cleaning.

Mali

Likewise 30°C on the delicate cycle with a mild detergent and no bleach. With rub and light fastness rated 5, Mali is more colour-stable than Panama and does not need to be washed separately. Air dry, not in the tumble dryer. Iron on a low setting if required; no dry cleaning.

Wipe Clean with a Damp Cloth

Faux Leather

Faux leather is not washed but wiped down with a damp cloth. For stubborn stains, a mild cleaning agent helps; wipe dry afterwards. No solvents such as acetone, no abrasive cleaners and no aggressive products. Not suitable for the washing machine or the tumble dryer.

Premium Faux Leather B2

Wipe down with a damp cloth or a mild soapy solution. The material is resistant to disinfectants, so surface disinfection is no problem at all. Resistant to chlorinated and salt water, and cold-resistant down to −29°C. Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners; do not wash and do not tumble dry.

Premium Faux Leather B1

Care is the same as for Premium Faux Leather B2: damp cloth or mild soapy solution, resistant to disinfectants, resistant to chlorinated and salt water, cold-resistant down to −29°C. Here too, no solvents and no abrasive cleaners; do not wash and do not tumble dry.

Clean with Soapy Water and a Soft Brush

Textura Plus

Clean Textura Plus with lukewarm water, pH-neutral soap and a soft brush. Do not use abrasive or solvent-based cleaners – the textile structure of the surface would suffer as a result. Do not wash and do not tumble dry. The material has an antibacterial and antifungal finish and is resistant to salt and chlorinated water.

General Care Tips

Treat stains immediately: dab rather than rub, so the stain isn't pressed into the fabric.
Close the zip before the cover goes into the machine.
Keep the foam core dry: only ever clean the cover, never the core.
Never tumble dry: this applies to all six fabrics.
Fit the cover while slightly damp: if the cover is still a little damp after washing, it slips over the core more easily.

Cushions Used Outdoors

Water-repellent is not waterproof. Where water is left standing, it can seep through the zip into the foam core, and outdoors that core will barely dry out again. This applies to every seat pad with a removable cover, regardless of the fabric.

For this reason, bring cushions indoors during heavy rain and overnight, or protect them in a storage box. For the winter break: let them dry out completely first, then store them indoors – lying flat or standing upright, not squashed under other items. Treated this way, the same seat pad will last many seasons.

When the Cover Is Beyond Saving

If the foam core is still in good condition, you don't need a whole new cushion: a replacement cover is available in the same size and, if you wish, in a different colour or fabric.
