Standard size or custom-made?

If your chair has a classic seating surface, a standard-size chair cushion is often sufficient. These are especially useful if you are looking for a common size quickly or want to equip many identical chairs.

Choose a custom-made cushion if the standard cushion does not fit exactly, the seating surface is trapezoid, you need a specific shape or you want a cushion height of 6 cm or 8 cm. This gives you a chair cushion that visually and functionally suits the chair – without compromising on size, shape or comfort.

Four shapes for your custom chair cushion

Custom-made chair cushions from Lekoni® are available in four basic shapes. Which shape is right depends directly on the seating surface of your chair or stool.

• Custom square chair cushions: for classic chairs with a seating surface of equal width and depth.
• Custom rectangular chair cushions: for chairs with an elongated seating surface, bistro chairs, folding chairs, wooden chairs and special chair models.
• Custom trapezoid chair cushions: for chairs with a tapered seating surface, meaning wider at the front than at the back. For this, you enter the depth, front width and rear width.
• Custom round chair cushions: for stools, bar stools, swivel chairs, bistro stools, piano stools and round seating surfaces. For this, you enter the desired diameter.

Custom trapezoid chair cushions for tapered seating surfaces

Many chairs are not exactly square or rectangular. Dining chairs, wooden chairs, designer chairs and bistro chairs in particular often have a seating surface that is wider at the front than at the back. A normal cushion then protrudes, slips more easily or looks visually unsuitable.

For such chairs, Lekoni® manufactures custom trapezoid chair cushions. You measure the depth, the front width and the rear width. A perfectly fitting cushion is made from these dimensions and follows the shape of your seating surface. This creates a clean look, better hold and pleasant seating comfort.

Custom round chair cushions for stools, bar stools and swivel chairs

Custom round chair cushions are the right choice for chairs and stools with a round seating surface. These include bar stools, bistro stools, swivel chairs, piano stools, dressing table stools, round wooden stools and round designer chairs.

Lekoni® manufactures round chair cushions with an individual diameter up to a maximum of 100 cm. The cushion heights 4 cm, 6 cm and 8 cm are freely selectable. This means you can also get a suitable cushion for round seating surfaces if the standard sizes 30 cm, 35 cm or 40 cm are not sufficient.

Custom chair cushions with bow ties

For rattan chairs, wicker chairs and chairs with a backrest, Lekoni® also offers custom chair cushions with bow ties. This version has longer and wider bow ties at the rear corners. The ties are tied decoratively into a bow behind the backrest.

Important: Chair cushions with bow ties are made exclusively from Panama fabric. They are available in square or trapezoid versions and in heights of 4 cm or 6 cm.

Cushion height 4 cm, 6 cm or 8 cm

For custom chair cushions, you can choose between a cushion height of 4 cm, 6 cm or 8 cm depending on the product type. Lekoni® uses high-quality foam with density 35 and compression hardness 5.0. The foam is dimensionally stable, durable and comfortable to sit on.

• 4 cm: classic height for dining chairs, kitchen chairs, stools and regular use in living areas.
• 6 cm: more padding for longer sitting periods, hard seating surfaces, restaurants, waiting areas and frequently used chairs.
• 8 cm: particularly high seating comfort for very hard seating surfaces, larger chairs or especially comfortable seats.

If a standard chair cushion is too flat for you or you want a particularly comfortable solution, a custom-made cushion with a 6 cm or 8 cm cushion height is the right choice.

Fastening: ties, bow ties or anti-slip protection

With custom chair cushions, you can use different fastening options depending on the version. Square, trapezoid and round custom cushions can optionally be ordered with ties. The ties are positioned at the rear corners on the zipper side so that they can be fastened to the bars of the backrest.

• Anti-slip protection: available separately as an accessory and can be cut to size as an underlay

If you do not want ties or if the seating surface is particularly smooth, a separately available anti-slip mat can be placed underneath the cushion.

Fabric comparison for custom chair cushions

For custom-made chair cushions, Lekoni® offers different fabric collections depending on the version: Panama, Mali, Faux Leather, Premium Faux Leather B2 and Premium Faux Leather B1. Square, trapezoid and round custom chair cushions can be configured in several fabrics and colors. Chair cushions with bow ties are made exclusively from Panama fabric.

For dining rooms, kitchens, living areas and decorative chair cushions, Panama is a homely and easy-care choice. Mali is suitable for more heavily used seating areas, restaurants, hotels and covered outdoor areas. Faux leather can be wiped clean with a damp cloth, making it especially practical for kitchens, medical practices, restaurants, daycare centers, schools and areas with frequent cleaning.

For regular outdoor use and particularly demanding commercial areas, we recommend Premium Faux Leather B2 or Premium Faux Leather B1. Both versions are highly weather-resistant, water-repellent and significantly more robust than classic home fabrics. Nevertheless, even robust chair cushions should not be permanently exposed to rain, snow, standing moisture or all weather conditions.

Premium Faux Leather B2 is the right choice if custom chair cushions need to be particularly robust, easy to care for, water-repellent and suitable for regular outdoor use. It works well for restaurants, hotels, terraces, saunas, swimming pools, medical practices and heavily used seating areas.

Premium Faux Leather B1 is the specialist solution for areas with increased fire protection requirements. The material is flame-retardant according to DIN 4102 B1 and is particularly suitable for care homes, clinics, public facilities, medical practices and contract interiors where B1 is required.

At Lekoni®, you select the appropriate configurator depending on the shape. Square, rectangular and trapezoid chair cushions are configured in the configurator for custom square chair cushions. Round chair cushions have their own configurator. For rattan chairs and wicker chairs, chair cushions with bow ties are also available.

How to measure chair cushions correctly

To ensure that your custom chair cushion can be made to fit precisely, always measure directly on the chair and not on an old cushion. Old cushions may be warped, compressed or have become smaller.

• Square chair cushions: Measure the width and depth of the seating surface. Both dimensions are the same.
• Rectangular chair cushions: Measure width and depth separately.
• Trapezoid chair cushions: Measure the depth, the front width and the rear width. This creates the right trapezoid shape for tapered seating surfaces.
• Round chair cushions: Measure the diameter of the seating surface at several points and use the appropriate dimension for your seating surface.

Custom chair cushions for home, restaurants and outdoor use

Custom-made chair cushions are used wherever standard sizes do not fit optimally or special seating comfort is desired. They are suitable for private chairs as well as for commercial and public areas.

• Dining room, kitchen and living area: for dining chairs, kitchen chairs, wooden chairs, designer chairs and stools with special dimensions.
• Restaurants and hotels: for restaurants, cafés, bistros, bars, hotels, holiday apartments and breakfast areas with individual seating.
• Medical practices, care facilities and public facilities: for waiting areas, care facilities, clinics, medical practices and contract interiors with higher requirements for care, hygiene or fire protection.
• Daycare, school, club and community: for children’s chairs, stools, circle time seating, group rooms, community halls and function rooms.
• Terrace, garden and protected outdoor areas: for garden chairs, bistro chairs, terrace chairs and outdoor areas in restaurants or hotels.

For regular outdoor use, we recommend Premium Faux Leather B1 or B2. Both materials are highly weather-resistant, water-repellent and significantly more robust than classic home fabrics. Panama, Mali and standard faux leather can also be used outdoors, but should only be used in protected outdoor areas or in good weather.

Even robust outdoor chair cushions should not be permanently exposed to rain, snow, standing moisture or all weather conditions. Since the covers are removable and made with a zipper, complete waterproofness cannot be guaranteed for construction-related reasons. In heavy rain, overnight or during longer periods of non-use, we recommend protected storage.

Lekoni® delivers custom chair cushions with DHL within Germany and to nine other EU countries: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal and Spain. Within Germany, delivery to DHL Packstations is also possible.

The usual delivery time for custom-made chair cushions within Germany is 5 to 10 working days. For deliveries to other EU countries, 1 to 3 working days are usually added. Since every chair cushion is individually manufactured according to the customer’s requirements, there is no classic warehouse dispatch for custom-made products.
