Which chair cushions fit which chair?
The right chair cushion depends primarily on the shape and size of the seating surface, the desired cushion thickness and the area of use. For many chairs, standard sizes are sufficient. If the seating surface has special dimensions, is wider at the front than at the back or needs to fit exactly, a custom chair cushion is the better choice.
- For classic dining chairs and kitchen chairs: chair cushions 40×40 cm or custom chair cushions, depending on the seating surface.
- For smaller chairs, children’s chairs and small stools: chair cushions 30×30 cm or round 30 cm.
- For bistro chairs, medium-sized kitchen chairs and stools: chair cushions 35×35 cm or round 35 cm.
- For large chairs, dining chairs and wider seating surfaces: chair cushions 40×40 cm.

Tie-on chair cushions
Tie-on chair cushions are specially suitable for rattan chairs and wicker chairs. The longer and wider tie bands are positioned at the rear corners of the cushion and are tied decoratively into a bow behind the backrest. This helps the cushion stay better on the chair and visually matches rattan and wicker chairs particularly well. Tie-on chair cushions from Lekoni® are made from Panama fabric.
Custom chair cushions for special seating surfaces
If a standard size does not fit, Lekoni® manufactures your chair cushion individually made to measure. This is especially useful for chairs with unusual seating surfaces, tapered shapes, special depths, round seating surfaces or when several chairs need to be fitted precisely.
Custom chair cushions are available in square, rectangular, trapezoid or round versions depending on the design. Square and rectangular custom-made cushions are possible up to 260 × 100 cm. Round custom chair cushions are manufactured up to a diameter of 100 cm.
- Square: for classic chairs with an even seating surface

Which cushion thickness is the right one?
The right cushion thickness depends on how hard the chair is, how long people will sit on it and what look is desired. Lekoni® uses the same high-quality foam with density 35 and compression hardness 5.0 for all chair cushions. Different thicknesses are available depending on the type of chair cushion.
- Square standard chair cushions: 2 cm, 3 cm or 4 cm
- Round standard chair cushions: 3 cm or 4 cm
- Custom chair cushions: 4 cm, 6 cm or 8 cm
- Tie-on chair cushions: standard 4 cm, custom-made 4 cm or 6 cm
2 to 4 cm are especially suitable for classic dining chairs, kitchen chairs, stools and shorter sitting periods. 6 cm is a comfortable choice for longer sitting periods, harder seating surfaces, restaurants, events and waiting areas. 8 cm is recommended when particularly high seating comfort is desired or the seating surface is very hard.
Fastening: ties, bows or anti-slip protection?
Depending on the type of chair cushion, there are different ways to secure the cushion on the chair. Standard chair cushions are made without ties. On smooth seating surfaces, a separately available anti-slip mat can be placed underneath.

The optional ties for custom-made cushions are attached to the rear corners on the zipper side. This allows them to be fastened to the bars of the backrest. On tie-on chair cushions, the bow ties are also attached to the rear corners, but they are longer and wider. This allows them to be tied decoratively into a bow behind the backrest.

Fabric comparison: Which fabric suits which chair cushion?
Different fabric collections are available depending on the type of chair cushion. Standard chair cushions are available in Panama or Faux Leather. For custom chair cushions, Panama, Mali, Faux Leather, Premium Faux Leather B2 and Premium Faux Leather B1 are available. Tie-on chair cushions are made exclusively from Panama fabric.
For dining rooms, kitchens, living areas, children’s rooms and decorative chair cushions, Panama is a homely and easy-care choice. Faux leather can be wiped clean with a damp cloth, making it especially practical for kitchens, restaurants, hotels, medical practices, daycare centers, schools and areas with frequent cleaning. Mali, Premium Faux Leather B2 or Premium Faux Leather B1 are suitable for more heavily used custom-made cushions.

Premium Faux Leather B2 is the right choice when chair cushions need to be particularly robust, easy to care for, water-repellent and suitable for regular outdoor use. It works well for restaurants, hotels, terraces, saunas, swimming pools, medical practices, events, trade fairs and heavily used seating areas.
Premium Faux Leather B1 is the specialist solution for areas with increased fire protection requirements. The material is flame-retardant according to DIN 4102 B1 and is particularly suitable for care homes, clinics, public facilities, medical practices and contract interiors where B1 is required.

Measure the width and depth of the seating surface directly on the chair. For classic dining chairs and kitchen chairs, 40×40 cm is often a suitable standard size. For smaller seating surfaces, 35×35 cm or 30×30 cm are suitable. For round stools, bar stools and bistro chairs, measure the diameter of the seating surface and choose a round chair cushion with a diameter of 30 cm, 35 cm or 40 cm.
When do I need a custom chair cushion?
A custom chair cushion is useful if no standard size fits or if the seating surface has a special shape. This applies, for example, to very wide, particularly deep, round or trapezoid seating surfaces. Custom-made cushions can also be the best solution for uniformly equipping several special chairs.
What is a trapezoid chair cushion?
A trapezoid chair cushion is wider at the front than at the back. It fits chairs whose seating surface becomes narrower towards the back. This shape is found on many dining chairs, kitchen chairs and designer chairs. At Lekoni®, trapezoid chair cushions can be ordered as custom-made cushions.

Mali is suitable for more heavily used custom-made cushions, restaurants, hotels and covered outdoor areas. For regular outdoor use or particularly demanding commercial areas, we recommend Premium Faux Leather B2 or Premium Faux Leather B1.
Are the covers of the chair cushions removable?
Yes, all Lekoni® chair cushions are made with a removable cover and zipper. The cover can be removed from the foam core and washed or wiped clean with a damp cloth depending on the material.
Are chair cushions washable?
Panama and Mali covers are washable at 30 °C. Faux Leather, Premium Faux Leather B2 and Premium Faux Leather B1 are wiped clean with a damp cloth. Further information can be found in the care and washing instructions.
Are chair cushions suitable for outdoor use?
For regular outdoor use, we recommend Premium Faux Leather B1 or B2. Both materials are highly weather-resistant, water-repellent and significantly more robust than classic home fabrics. Panama, Mali and standard faux leather can also be used outdoors, but should only be used in protected outdoor areas or in good weather.
Are outdoor chair cushions waterproof?
No, complete waterproofness cannot be guaranteed for construction-related reasons, as the covers are removable and made with a zipper. Even robust chair cushions should be stored in a protected place during heavy rain, snow, standing moisture, overnight or longer periods of non-use.
